Publication Regulations on the Master and Doctor Degree Application for the Foreign Postgraduate Students in the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
As the postgraduate studies for a master or doctor degree, the degree application should meet some publication requirements in addition to the general requirements of the university on the depth, breadth and systematicness of the thesis. According to the authority of the university degree committee, the degree subcommittee of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering formulates the publication requirements for the foreign postgraduate students on the application for the master or doctor degrees based on the characteristics of different disciplines, which are shown as follows:
The foreign postgraduates studying for the master degrees are not required to publish papers in the academic journals during the thesis works.
The foreign postgraduates studying for the doctoral degrees should timely publish the research results with the guidance of the advisors during their thesis works. A doctoral student of chemistry should publish at least one paper in the academic journals above JCR 2 or two papers in other SCI journals, who is required to be the first author or the second author when the advisor is the first author. A doctoral student of chemistry engineering should publish at least one paper in the journals above JCR 2, or two papers in other SCI journals, or one paper in the SCI journals and one paper in the EI journals, who is the first author or the second author when the advisor is the first author.
Present regulations apply to students who have entered the university after 2014 (including 2014).

Attachment 1. Regulations on the Institutional Affiliations of Authorship for the Publications of the Postgraduate Students in the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
1. The postgraduate programs in the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering contain the master’s and doctoral degree programs of first class disciplines of Chemistry (including Chemical Biology) and Chemical Engineering and Technology. The College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has jurisdiction over the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biological Engineering and the Department of Chemical Biology. Moreover, there are various types of affiliated important scientific research platforms and institutions, including the Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials, State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces (Xiamen University), the National Engineering Laboratory for Green Chemical Production of Alcohols-Ethers-Esters (Xiamen University), the MOE Engineering Research Center of Electrochemical Technology (Xiamen University), the MOE Key Laboratory of Spectrochemical Analysis & Instrumentation (Xiamen University), and the Key Laboratory for Chemical Biology of Fujian Province, et al.
2. For the postgraduates in the master’s and doctoral programs of the departments of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, according to the regulations of the postgraduate status management, the holder signature of the institutional affiliations for the publications should belong to their department and college of the first class discipline when they publish papers. Moreover, the departments of the advisors and the postgraduate students should be labeled respectively, according to the practical situation. The affiliated important national or provincial platforms and institutions should be also signed based on the practical situation. But the first affiliation must be the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in all case.
3. As for the papers which are conducted based on the thesis work but published after graduation, the postgraduate should still observe the authorship regulation mentioned above. When the postgraduate deals with the research results related to the thesis and the intellectual properties owned by the former research group after graduation, it is necessary to get the written permission from the advisor or the university. As for the research work involving the confidentiality projects, it is necessary to sign the confidentiality agreements based on the relevant state regulations.
4. As for the postgraduate students not observing the authorship regulation, it is necessary to put off awarding the degree or prohibit the dissertation defence.
